Qualification and specialication as key to professional services

About me

Monika Dauer technische Übersetzerin

Specialisation

Since 2004 I have supported a wide range of clients as a freelance technical translator. My regular customers include globally active consulting companies, international providers of cloud computing solutions, scientific organisations, biotechnology companies and professional publishers, with whom I work on localisation projects in my language combination English -> German. As a state-examined translator I am a member of the BDÜ (German translators' association).

Qualification

Before I decided to go freelance I worked for several years as a project manager for an established translation and localisation agency, where I was responsible for handling localisation projects for a wide range of end customers. And before that I supported the technical team of a global energy group in international tender and offer processes for the sector of fossil energy generation as a translator. In addition to my qualification as a state-examined translator, special subject technology, I also have the benefit of a natural science background from my diploma studies in biology.

What I don't offer

I am convinced that specialisation is very important particularly in the translation sector. My offerings include the working languages English and German in my professional areas and the services listed. Thus, I don't offer e.g. certified translation of certificates or interpreting services. I will however gladly refer you to highly qualified translator colleagues for such matters.
